about

Welcome to the sixth release of the drumpoet.comMUNITY recordlabel out of Zurich. After five releases we can happily say that we have found a fanbase for our deep and emotive sound. The release you’re holding in your hands has already recieved massive support from DJs like Âme, Chateau Flight and Dixon and it’s rated highly by some of our favourite producers like Mr. Henrik Schwarz. I can honestly say that this young collective that goes by the name of Soultourist is fuelled for the future and in my opinion belongs to the most promising swiss acts i’ve ever heard. I remember my reaction when i first heard of them. Their understanding of Soul, House and Techno is unusual for their age. Their skillz are mindblowing and their vision is one step ahead of it’s time. Soultourist is a collective of four producers from Zurich consisting of Foster, Ron Shiller, Thabo and Big Clap. Each also working individually on their own soloprojects. They exchange their beats and join forces for a new sound which finds it’s roots in Boogie, Soul, Detroit, Minimal and House. The first release was „Make it right“ which was released in 2005 on Sonar Kollektiv and was a big tune among the eclectic DJ community. It was playlisted by the likes of Jazzanova, Rush Hour and Rainer Trüby to name just a few. With their second 12“ „Yeah!“ on drumpoet in 2006 they reached a new crowd including people like Carl Craig and Âme. With this sixth release for drumpoet the boys provide a serious and essential 12“. I still remember how i was blown away when they gave me the CDR at our monthly drumpoet clubnight at Club Zukunft. I checked it first on headphones and when I dropped it the crowd went crazy. It’s such a euphoric tune although it is really deep and not at all in your face. Dixon told me that it’s one of the highlights on his residency Innercityvisions in Berlin. On the flip side there are 2 more winners. Lowfield High follows the same vibe whereas Side Dish is a huge 100 bpm monster for fans of Maurice Fulton.
